This carving board is made from a slab of English Oak. The knot in the middle had cracked and would not be suiteble for cutting, so it was filled with a mixture of sanding dust and epoxy. It was made in my workshop in London, England.
This cutting board is the flip side of the carving board in the left photo. The live edge was fully preserved, especially to keep the burly portion in the bottom right. It is finished in butcher block oil.
We've made some interesting bowls including from oak wood slabs. This gnarly fruit bowl is from the outside edge of an oak tree. The bowl portion was carved out and feet were added below the bowl from a small oak slab.
This doughboard is made from a mix of walnut, maple and ash. It's design allows the front edge to hang over the countertop so the chef can roll the dough out from front to back without the board slipping. It is reversible.
This olive boat was carved from an oak slab offcut, and was designed to serve olives, nuts or other finger food. We subsequently carved some oars which were sharpened to be used as a toothpick for olives.
Wine is a big part of our family. We have a small family winery and needed to have a way to store wines for immediate availabiliy, so we built this wine storage rack in the barrel room of our winery. It allows 35 different our our wines to be on display, along with their medals from competition. Case goods are stored separately in bulk, but these allow ease of access and earthquake security
Our winery acquired this 1/4 ton wine basket press, but the wood staves were in bad shape. So, we steam-sanitized a batch of purple heart-wood, which is naturally rot-resistance, to replace the staves. It has been used to make award winning wines now for over 17 years
We've made a series of wine and beer serving utensils such as this wine tasting serving handle. We'e also made trays for serving small wine carafes and beer glasses.
